The key verse of the book of Judges is also the last verse: "In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes." It is easy to see the consequences of this man-centered philosophy throughout the book and to marvel at the repeated disobedience of God's chosen people. To so limit our study ignores how much we have followed the same path today.   The truly amazing truth of Judges is how God steadfastly provided for His people despite their sin.   That truth is the basis for our salvation.

"What Christians Should Believe"

False teachings and philosophies have assaulted the Church since the days of the  Apostle Paul, deceiving many to walk in falsehood and leading some to fall away from “the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3).   This historical trend continues to be  prevalent in the 21^st century Church, yet the response of the faithful in every generation has been consistent: “teach what accords with sound doctrine” (Titus 2:1)  so that the Church will learn to “adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.”   This must be our  response today as well, to teach and know the vital truths of Christianity so that our lives are transformed by the renewing of our minds  (Romans 12:2).  Our lives and the mission  of the Church are fueled, empowered, and directed by the beliefs and philosophies that dominate our thinking.   If we allow the false doctrines and philosophies of the world to hold sway over our minds we will live fruitless lives for the kingdom of God, and could even make a shipwreck of our faith.

Join us as we explore the central truths that every Christian should believe, and we discuss how these truths should practically shape our lives. Each week we will introduce and investigate a different doctrine being guided by the Scriptures, Mark Driscoll's  Doctrine: What Christian's Should Believe, and the BFC Faith & Order. Come sharpen your mind and examine your life in the sound doctrine of the Christian faith.
